With the arrival of the Web3 era, decentralized storage networks have gradually become the focus of attention. Although traditional decentralized storage technologies excel in file storage, they may encounter performance and speed bottlenecks in dApps applications, especially during file reading. To address this challenge, CESS has emerged.
CESS is a physical infrastructure network composed of three functional layers:
Public chain layer: Developed based on Substrate, integrated with EVM Pallet module, capable of running Ethereum smart contracts seamlessly.
Storage Layer: Decentralization cloud storage system, responsible for file content storage. After files are encrypted, sharded, and redundantly preprocessed, they are randomly assigned to storage nodes based on user requirements.
Content Distribution Layer ( DCDN ): Scheduled for release in 2025, it aggregates and caches data shards from the user's nearest edge node using CDN technology, improving access speed and reducing transaction costs.
The decentralized characteristics of the CESS network are reflected in:
Decentralization node network: includes consensus nodes, storage nodes, cache nodes, and retrieval nodes. Anyone can participate in building nodes by staking tokens.
Innovative consensus mechanism: adopting reputation rotating consensus (R²S), rotating validating nodes at the start of each epoch.
Multiple copies of recoverable storage proof (PoDR²): Each file is encrypted, divided into multiple slices, and redundantly stored.
Idle Space Proof ( PoIS ): Storage nodes generate an idle file set in idle space and submit proof to consensus nodes.
Proxy Re-Encryption Technology ( PReT ): Allows secure sharing of encrypted data without decryption.
CESS has currently launched several products, including Deshare for individual users, the decentralized file sharing platform Decloud, enterprise-level storage DeOSS, and more. Its infrastructure also supports a high-quality NFT marketplace and more Web3 applications.
Compared to other decentralized storage networks, CESS has the following advantages:
Higher degree of Decentralization
Stronger security and privacy protection
Higher file reading efficiency
The innovative consensus algorithm enhances network robustness and efficiency.
CESS is developed by a team of experienced entrepreneurs and technical experts, using a robust development strategy. Its features, based on Substrate but compatible with EVM, provide good compatibility and interoperability for developers and users. As a comprehensive infrastructure integrating public chains, Decentralization storage, and content distribution, CESS offers vast space for the development of Web3 applications.
Although CESS has not yet issued tokens, its ecosystem has already begun to take shape. Since the mainnet launch at the end of January 2024, it has attracted nearly 20,000 accounts and over 7,000 storage miners to participate. Interested users can experience CESS ecosystem products or participate in early ecosystem construction by setting up nodes.

looking at their key metrics, storage latency is still the main friction point... needs more a/b testing data before we can talk about product-market fit tbh

Isn't it just an upgraded version of IPFS?

On-chain storage can only be messed up.

gas optimization is quite impressive, and the arbitrage space is not small.
