Japan's MicroStrategy Transports Its Holdings to 5,000 Bitcoin: Another Purchase Has Arrived! - Coin Bulletin
Japanese giant Metaplanet has made a significant investment of approximately 428.1 million dollars by increasing its Bitcoin (BTC) assets to 5,000 BTC as part of its treasury management strategy.
Metaplanet, traded on the Tokyo stock exchange, is continuing its Bitcoin accumulation strategy to strengthen its financial reserves. Most recently, the company purchased an additional 145 BTC valued at a total of 13.6 million dollars at an average price of 93,327 dollars. As a result, Metaplanet's average cost per Bitcoin has risen to approximately 85,621 dollars.
The company's strategy regarding its Bitcoin assets has provided an impressive 121.1% BTC Yield return from the beginning of 2025 to the present. BTC Yield is a unique indicator used by Metaplanet to measure the performance of its Bitcoin-based treasury. This metric reflects the increase in the amount of Bitcoin per share and measures only the gains obtained from BTC investments, excluding dilution resulting from stock issuance.
In the first quarter of 2025 alone, Metaplanet, which provides 95.6% BTC Yield, proves to its investors that it offers a different and effective strategy compared to traditional financial assets. The company's approach serves as an important example for other institutional investors to consider Bitcoin as a reserve asset. Metaplanet's Bitcoin strategy is expected to continue to be closely monitored in global markets, particularly in Japan.
