Hackers use Drake's Twitter to promote fake meme coin $ANITA
Drake's Twitter featured a series of tweets on 12/16, mainly promoting a meme coin called $ANITA and claiming that $ANITA is collaborating with the popular crypto gaming platform Stake. However, Stake is the very platform Drake himself uses, adding some credibility to the false news.
Drake promotes his related merchandise of cartoon characters Anita Max Wynn on live broadcast
The name of the meme coin $ANITA is related to Drake's cartoon alter ego Anita Max Wynn, inspired by Drake's love for gambling. The name sounds like 'I need a max win,' which led many fans to mistakenly believe that $ANITA was personally launched by Drake.
Hackers hacked into Drake's Twitter account to promote fake meme coin $ANITA, and the trading volume briefly surged to $5 million before coming to a halt.
Many netizens were influenced by the relevant tweets of $ANITA, which in turn triggered a trading frenzy. According to DexScreener data, the trading volume of $ANITA once soared to $5 million. However, after investors discovered that these tweets were false news, the trading volume plummeted sharply, and buyers quickly stopped. Not long after, these tweets related to $ANITA had all been deleted from Drake's Twitter.
Celebrities are still targets for hackers
This is not the first case of celebrity Twitter account theft in recent times. Cardano's Twitter account was also hacked on 12/8 and used to promote the fake meme coin $ADAsol, but the trading volume of $ADAsol is only one-tenth of $ANITA. In addition, other victims include well-known American musicians Cardi B, Doja Cat, and the rock band Metallica. It can be seen that hackers continue to target high-profile Twitter users to attract more unsuspecting victims.
