ICP Vs Bittensor (TAO): Why Internet Computer Will Be the Clear Winner

AI has become a major focus in 2025, and blockchain projects are competing to lead decentralized AI. Bittensor’s TAO token is known for rewarding AI model training, while Internet Computer’s ICP token aims to be the “world computer” that runs full AI applications fully on-chain.

Both tokens have been under pressure since July but an analyst from Domenico Di Pino, a crypto channel on YouTube, argues that ICP has the edge over TAO this year. His breakdown compares both technologies, focusing on storage, compute, and adoption.

Why TAO Token Struggles To Scale

According to the analyst, Bittensor’s pitch is unique. Miners train AI models, contribute power to the network, and receive TAO tokens as rewards. This creates a marketplace for machine learning resources. The model works well for specific tasks such as training niche AI systems. However, Domenico points out that Bittensor has limitations.

TAO token relies on external storage like IPFS or cloud services, which means data is fragmented and less reliable. The system also struggles to support full applications since its focus is on rewarding model training. While Bittensor price surged during the AI token boom in 2024, its network still lacks infrastructure that can support enterprise-grade adoption.

Internet Computer Token Offers More Than Storage

Internet Computer token stands out because it goes beyond AI model marketplaces. Domenico describes ICP as the world computer, capable of handling compute, storage, and applications all in one ecosystem.

Its core feature, canisters, are smart contracts that store both code and data on-chain permanently. This means AI models and applications can run entirely inside the network, without depending on cloud providers.

According to Domenico, projects like OpenChat already demonstrate this, with over 1 million user messages stored securely on the Internet Computer blockchain.

Enterprises exploring AI are also testing ICP for large-scale storage and security, which strengthens the case for Internet Computer price recovery. Unlike TAO’s model training marketplace, ICP provides a full-stack environment for AI applications to live and grow.

How Compute Power Sets ICP Apart From Bittensor

TAO token shines when rewarding contributors for training AI, but it falls short in general compute power. Developers who want to build AI-driven applications face latency issues and higher costs since the system relies on bridges to other blockchains.

Internet Computer token handles this differently. Its chain key technology processes transactions at web speed, exceeding 100k transactions per second. The reverse gas model also means users pay nothing to interact with dApps, while developers cover the compute costs through cycles burned from ICP.

Domenico emphasizes that ICP already proved this by running large language models on-chain in 2024, handling 500 queries per minute without delay. This positions Internet Computer as a true infrastructure play, while TAO token remains focused on niche AI use cases.

Why Internet Computer Price Has Long-Term Potential

Market prices tell part of the story, but technology adoption often drives the bigger picture. ICP token has already been used to power over 50 decentralized apps, including AI chatbots that operate without external cloud providers. Its global node network continues to grow, while Bittensor remains dependent on its miner base.

Domenico argues that Internet Computer price could benefit more from AI adoption because it offers the full infrastructure stack. With AI spending expected to cross $500 billion this year and grow into the trillions by 2040, protocols capable of handling both compute and storage have a stronger foundation.

Both ICP token and TAO token are part of the decentralized AI movement, yet they play very different roles. TAO focuses on rewarding model training through its marketplace, while ICP builds an entire environment where AI can run natively on-chain. Domenico Di Pino’s analysis suggests that Internet Computer is more likely to outshine Bittensor in 2025, thanks to its scalability and ability to host full-scale applications.
