Gate exchange has just officially launched Gate Layer, an exclusive Layer 2 blockchain designed to increase transaction processing speed and fall costs, while also implementing major upgrades to the GT ecosystem (GateToken).
According to the company's announcement, Gate Layer is built on OP Stack, fully compatible with Ethereum, and uses GateChain as the payment layer.
Gate positions Gate Layer as a cornerstone platform in the "All in Web3" strategy, accompanied by many new tools:
Perp: a perpetual contract trading hub with liquidity on par with CEX.
Gate Fun: a token launch platform that requires no code.
Meme Go: a multi-chain meme token tracking tool in real time.
In this upgrade, GT becomes the exclusive gas token of Gate Layer, while continuing to maintain the dual burn model. To date, over 180 million GT have been burned, equivalent to about 60% of the total initial supply.
This move reflects the trend of major exchanges deploying their own Layer 2 solutions, similar to Coinbase with Base, in order to increase on-chain activity. The combination of infrastructure with local tokenomics mechanisms helps exchanges not only remain as trading platforms but also expand into a comprehensive Web3 ecosystem, strengthening liquidity and attracting more users.
