Corporate and government Bitcoin holdings rose by over 660,000 BTC from January 2024 to June 2025.

The United States, China, and the United Kingdom rank as the top three national holders.

A total of 291 entities globally hold Bitcoin across public companies, governments, ETFs, and DeFi contracts.

Bitcoin treasury holdings have expanded significantly over the past 18 months, reaching record levels in mid-2025. Corporate and government entities have steadily increased their positions, holding a growing share of the total supply. The largest holdings are concentrated in countries such as the United States, China, and the United Kingdom, which rank at the top globally.

Steady Increase in Holdings Over 18 Months

According to a holdings chart by Bitcoin Archive, Bitcoin held by corporate treasuries grew steadily from January 2024 to June 2025, according to market data. Holdings began at 1,204,777 BTC in January 2024 and moved up to 1,283,343 BTC by March 2024. Through the middle of that year, totals stayed between 1.21 million and 1.25 million BTC. August 2024 saw 1,213,773 BTC, followed by 1,247,404 BTC in September.

October 2024 marked a sharp rise to 1,399,945 BTC, with November reaching 1,479,606 BTC. December ended the year at 1,508,289 BTC. Growth continued into 2025, with January at 1,540,729 BTC and February climbing to 1,613,941 BTC. March recorded 1,642,610 BTC, while April advanced to 1,692,191 BTC.

May 2025 holdings totaled 1,759,167 BTC. By June 2025, the figure reached 1,865,592 BTC, representing an increase of over 660,000 BTC since January 2024. Based on current prices, June’s total is valued at about $219 billion. The largest jumps occurred after October 2024, reflecting accelerated accumulation during that period.

Global Bitcoin Treasury Holdings Per Country Revealed

Tracking the current Bitcoin holdings, Global Bitcoin treasuries now total 3.65 million BTC, divided among public companies, private companies, governments, and ETFs. Public companies hold 964,327 BTC, while private companies possess 292,375 BTC. Government entities collectively manage 526,544 BTC, and ETFs or exchanges account for 1,624,178 BTC. Additionally, 242,470 BTC is held by DeFi contracts and other categories.

A total of 291 entities hold Bitcoin. This includes 165 public companies, 55 private companies, and 12 government bodies. ETFs and other funds number 44, while DeFi contracts total 11, and custodians account for 4. The United States leads with 99 entities, followed by Canada with 42 and the United Kingdom with 20. Germany records 10 entities, while China lists 9. Government holdings data shows the United States owning 198,022 BTC valued at $23.885 billion

China follows with 190,000 BTC worth $22.918 billion. The United Kingdom holds 61,245 BTC valued at $7.387 billion. Ukraine’s public officials collectively hold 46,351 BTC worth $5.591 billion. North Korea’s total is 13,562 BTC, valued at $1.636 billion, and Bhutan’s is 10,769 BTC, worth $1.299 billion. Combined, these government holdings represent a significant share of the total Bitcoin supply.
