Waller: The impact of tariffs on the economy is expected to become clear only in the second half of the year. There is currently no need to change policy.

On April 24, Jin10 reported that Federal Reserve Board of Governors member Waller stated on Thursday that it will not be until the second half of this year that the Federal Reserve can figure out how tariffs are affecting the economy, indicating that the Federal Reserve believes there is currently no need to change the existing monetary policy. In an interview, Waller mentioned that since some of the largest tariffs are postponed until summer, "I think we won't see enough change in the actual data in the coming months until after July. By the second half of this year, I think we will have a better understanding of what changes are happening in the area of tariffs."
