A large number of encryption ETF applications have been submitted, will LTC be the next approved altcoin ETF?
As the inauguration of Trump approaches and Gary Gensler, Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), steps down, many asset management companies are vying to submit ETFs related to encryption, including Litecoin ETFs, XRP and Solana leveraged funds, Reverse funds and futures funds, active managed digital asset funds and other funds to meet investors' appetites.
(Bloomberg: A variety of encryption currency ETFs will emerge in 2025)
Litecoin will be the next altcoin ETF to go online?
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas believes that Litecoin, as a fork of Bitcoin, may be considered a commodity like Bitcoin and is very likely to be approved as the next encryption ETF.
Canary Capital Group, founded by former Valkyrie Funds co-founder Steven McClurg in September 2024, has submitted the Canary Litecoin ETF, and the Nasdaq exchange responsible for its listing also submitted Form 19-4 on 1/17, indicating that SEC officials have commented on the S-1 application.
Balchunas can't see any reason for the SEC to refuse, but he also wonders if there will be demand from investors.
XRP ETF
ProShares has filed multiple XRP ETFs documents, including:
XRP Futures ETF
XRP Leveraged ETF
XRP Reverse ETF
XRP Leveraged Reverse ETF
In addition, asset management companies that have previously proposed XRP ETFs include 21Shares, Bitwise, Wisdomtree, and Canary.
Solana ETF
ProShares has also proposed Solana ETFs, including futures, leverage, and Reverse ETFs.
In addition, the asset management companies that have previously proposed the Solana spot ETF include VanEck, 21Shares, Bitwise, Grayscale (applying for transformation), and Canary.
Analysts believe that due to XRP and SOL being tagged as securities in the ongoing litigation, it will be necessary to wait for the new SEC chairman to take office and for regulations to be clearly defined before there is a chance.
Other encryption-related ETF
Other encryption-related ETFs recently submitted include:
Oasis Capital Digital Asset Debt Strategy ETF: This is an actively managed digital asset debt strategy ETF that aims to invest at least 80% of its assets in convertible bonds of companies involved in the digital asset field, from mining companies to payment infrastructure providers.
CoinShares Valkyrie Digital Asset ETF: will follow the COINTEN index of its top 10 digital assets (with a maximum weight limit of 35% for each token), only investing in exchange-traded products listed on major exchanges in the United States, Canada, and the European Union that meet certain liquidity requirements; the document specifically mentions Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP as possible included tokens.
VanEck's Onchain Economy ETF application plans to invest in digital transformation companies and digital asset tools, without directly holding encryption currencies.
(VanEck submits application for 'Blockchain Economy ETF', focusing on investment in the encryption industry)
Asset management companies are all gearing up to launch more fancy ETF products to satisfy investors' appetite.
(The ETF team on Wall Street is ready for more fancy encryption ETF scripts)
