【9992】Pop Mart Wang Ning: Expanding IP application scope, connecting artists and industries, confident that IP outside of Labubu will be loved by the public
Pop Mart (09992) CEO Wang Ning stated in an interview with CCTV that he is seeking to expand the application scope of its intellectual property (IP) from toys to more areas, including fashion, theme parks, and films, in order to establish a more sustainable brand series.
He mentioned that the company is a mechanized IP platform and will not let the preferences of any one person within the company affect IP operations. The company aims to give more choices and decision-making power to artists, emphasizing that the company provides resources to artists and connects the industry with IP.
Confident that other IPs will be loved by the public
The market is concerned about the sustainability of the popularity of Pop Mart’s well-known Labubu, but Wang Ning is confident in the company’s IP portfolio, believing that IPs will gradually become loved by the public. Through its development process, the company has explored methods for IP operation and is managing IPs in a healthier way, including its platform mechanism, which will create more good works in the future.
Regarding bringing Labubu to the big screen, he explained that Labubu itself is a picture book with many stories and sees great potential in enriching its content. He believes that films can help increase the depth of the IP, and now is a great time to let more people understand Labubu.
