Duke Energy has received approval from the Public Service Commission of South Carolina to construct a 1,365 MW combined-cycle natural gas plant in Anderson County. This project, expected to begin construction in summer 2027 and be operational by early 2031, is projected to create over 2,200 construction jobs annually and contribute an $84 million annual economic impact to the state. The facility will incorporate advanced technologies, reducing water usage by 90% compared to traditional cooling methods.
