Minister Wang Wentao Meets with Apple CEO Tim Cook

On March 20, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Apple CEO Tim Cook. The two sides exchanged views on topics such as China-U.S. economic and trade relations and Apple’s business development in China.

Wang Wentao stated that under the diplomatic strategic guidance of the leaders of China and the United States, the economic and trade teams of both sides have conducted six rounds of dialogue and consultations, reaching a series of important consensuses. Both sides agreed that a healthy, stable, and sustainable China-U.S. economic and trade relationship not only serves the interests of both countries but also has an important impact on the stability and development of the global economy.

Wang Wentao pointed out that China is committed to building an open world economy, and the development of the Chinese economy is providing stability and certainty in a turbulent world. China continues to promote high-level opening up, focusing on building a stable, resilient, green, and innovative industrial chain and supply chain, and hopes that Apple will have confidence in its development in China and share in the opportunities of China’s growth.

Cook stated that China is Apple’s most important production base and the main source of its supply chain. Apple continues to deepen its innovation cooperation in China, green development, and industrial chain synergy, which aligns closely with the direction of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan. Apple hopes that the China-U.S. economic and trade relationship will maintain stable development.
