Iran Situation | Houthi forces attack Israel, U.S. reports are preparing for ground operations against Iran
A spokesperson for the Houthi armed group in Yemen stated that the organization launched a second round of attacks using cruise missiles and drones against important targets in southern Israel, with military operations set to continue in the coming days until the United States and Israel cease their aggression. The Israeli military responded by saying they are prepared for the Houthis’ involvement and warned that any acts of aggression will come at a cost.
The Houthi spokesperson issued a statement saying that Israel launched a wave of missiles and drones targeting multiple important military objectives, and noted that this attack is in sync with military actions being carried out by Iran and Hezbollah.
Israeli security sources confirmed that the Houthis fired a second missile at Israel just hours after launching their first missile and officially entering the Iranian war. Security officials stated that both missiles were intercepted, causing no casualties or property damage. An Israeli military spokesperson reiterated that they are prepared for the Houthis’ involvement and warned that any acts of aggression will have consequences.
Reports indicate the U.S. is preparing for ground operations against Iran
Additionally, the U.S. Central Command stated that the USS Tripoli, carrying sailors and Marines, has arrived in the Central Command area of responsibility. This ship serves as the flagship for the amphibious readiness group and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, consisting of about 3,500 personnel, along with transport planes, attack aircraft, and amphibious assault and tactical equipment.
The Washington Post quoted U.S. officials reporting that the Pentagon is preparing for several weeks of ground operations in Iran, including raids on targets on Khark Island and along the Strait of Hormuz, but President Trump has yet to approve any deployments.
