According to CCTV News: On March 27, the country’s first International Commercial Mediation Academy, jointly built by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Justice, the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, Harbin University of Commerce, and the Heilongjiang Provincial Mediation Association, was officially established.

With the deepening of opening up to the outside world, demand for resolving international commercial disputes has become increasingly urgent. The purpose of establishing this academy is to address the shortage of international commercial mediation professionals, and to serve the development of a new high ground for opening up to the north. The academy innovatively builds a “Chinese and foreign co-mentors, phased training” model, breaking through the traditional disciplinary boundaries between law and business, deepening interdisciplinary research at the intersection of law, technology, and the economy, and exploring a new mechanism for an integrated pathway through undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies, as well as joint training for a dual degree.

The academy mainly carries out degree education, training for international commercial mediation professionals, and academic research on international commercial mediation. In September, it will start recruitment for degree education. After graduation, students will work at legal service organizations such as commercial mediation bodies and arbitration institutions to handle the resolution of international civil and commercial disputes.
