The senior citizen transportation discount “two dollars for two rides” will be implemented starting next month. For fares exceeding 10 dollars, the charge will be at two-fifths. The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Sun Yuhan, stated in a radio program that in light of an aging population, this arrangement considers fiscal sustainability and is believed to improve the situation of “long rides for short trips,” making it affordable for seniors.

Sun Yuhan pointed out that local residents have been mobilized to promote this in all 18 districts and provide transportation tips, believing that seniors are budget-conscious and will know how to choose their rides.
