On March 29, according to foreign media, the results of a straw poll indicate that U.S. Vice President Vance has emerged as the preferred choice for the Republican presidential nomination at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Among the more than 1,600 attendees who participated in the vote, approximately 53% chose Vance, with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio coming in second with 35% of the vote. CPAC is an important annual gathering for Republican lawmakers, activists, and presidential hopefuls. This year’s CPAC conference was held in Grapevine, Texas, with participants primarily from the conservative wing of the Republican Party. The conference’s annual straw poll is not a reliable predictor of the eventual nominee. However, this vote reflects the current support leanings of the core supporters of Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement.
