The 2026 Commercial Vehicle Industry Development Conference kicks off in Shiyan, with closed-door meetings where representatives jointly outline the high-quality development blueprint for the 15th Five-Year Plan.
Topic: 2026 Commercial Vehicle Industry Development Conference
Spring tides surge, and the automotive city rejuvenates. On the afternoon of March 25, 2026, the first session of the highly anticipated 2026 Commercial Vehicle Industry Development Conference—a closed-door meeting—was successfully held in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, officially marking the opening of the 2026 Commercial Vehicle Industry Development Conference.
2026 is the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and coincides with the 70th anniversary of the off-line of the first automobile in New China—the Jiefang CA10 truck. It is also a critical juncture for the deep transformation of China’s commercial vehicle industry towards electrification and intelligence, making the timing of this conference highly relevant.
Currently, new energy and intelligent connected technologies are accelerating their implementation, and overseas markets are continuously expanding, becoming important engines for driving industry recovery and stimulating market vitality. At the same time, intensive policy releases and the rapid improvement of standards and regulations provide crucial guidance and institutional support for the industry’s transformation and upgrading. In the face of this new stage, the commercial vehicle industry urgently needs to strengthen product competitiveness, enhance core technological innovation, accelerate the development of independent brands, and steadily promote the optimization of industrial structure and high-quality transformation.
This closed-door meeting was meticulously crafted by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, gathering government authorities, key industry enterprises, experts, scholars, and other guests concerned about the development of the commercial vehicle industry. In-depth discussions were held on core industry topics such as industry self-discipline, commercial vehicle electrification, intelligence, internationalization, standard and regulation construction, market operation trends, and industrial policy guidance, aiming to explore and form a consensus on the path to high-quality development of commercial vehicles, contributing wisdom and strength to the industry’s transformation and upgrading, and achieving higher-level development.
The opening remarks after the meeting began gathered various voices, laying the tone for pragmatic communication and collaborative development. Shiyan City leader Guo Qingyao delivered a speech, stating that the production of automobiles and medium- and heavy-duty trucks in Shiyan City will maintain reasonable growth in 2025. Shiyan will continue to anchor its development direction toward intelligence, greening, and integration, focusing on quality improvement, service optimization, and innovation synergy, expanding application scenarios, accelerating technological iteration, optimizing energy structure, and promoting the commercial vehicle industry’s development toward new, green, and intelligent pathways. The city aims to fully create a green manufacturing city and solidify industrial support for building a regional central city in western Hubei, looking forward to strengthening cooperation with industry professionals in new energy, new materials, and the pilot construction of “vehicle-road-cloud integration,” as well as enhancing supply chain resilience, to jointly build a new industrial ecosystem.
Fu Bingfeng, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, delivered a speech on behalf of the organizers, sincerely thanking all guests for their presence and calling on all sectors of the industry to express their views freely, gather consensus, and jointly promote high-quality development of the industry. Fu Bingfeng stated that China’s commercial vehicle industry is undergoing an unprecedented profound transformation, facing multiple challenges of transformation and intensified competition, while also encountering opportunities to cultivate new productive forces and expand new overseas markets. In his speech, he made four suggestions: first, adhere to green leadership and build a low-carbon ecosystem throughout the entire lifecycle; second, strengthen digital and intelligent integration to create a globally leading intelligent commercial vehicle system; third, deepen global layout and accelerate the transition from product export to system co-construction; fourth, enhance industry self-discipline and foster a fair competitive market ecosystem.
Fu Bingfeng emphasized that he hopes the commercial vehicle industry will strictly implement the 60-day account period commitment, curb the impact of price wars on the supply chain, uphold the bottom line of quality and safety, eliminate vicious low-price competition, maintain market order, and strengthen innovation-driven development, allowing the industry’s growth to return to the essence of quality and innovation.
Song Zhiming, Vice President of the China Machinery Industry Federation, warmly congratulated the convening of this meeting and fully affirmed the series of achievements made by China’s commercial vehicle industry in its development. He also pointed out that while acknowledging these achievements, it is essential to be soberly aware of the prominent deep-seated contradictions within the industry. He shared three thoughts on the current development of the industry: first, prioritize industry self-discipline by improving the business environment and enhancing profitability. Song Zhiming stressed that the most prominent and urgent task in the industry is to curb disorderly competition, standardize market order, and enhance profitability. The China Machinery Industry Federation will work with the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers to strengthen information sharing and risk warnings, promptly addressing malicious low-price behaviors that disrupt the ecosystem, and collaboratively safeguarding a healthy development environment for the industry. Second, anchor the direction of high-quality development and clarify the pathway for the transformation and upgrading of commercial vehicles. Third, actively respond to international challenges and promote the upgrade of going overseas from “going out” to “going steadily and far.”
After the opening remarks, Li Shaohua delivered a guiding speech, clarifying the core direction for subsequent discussions, which will focus on six aspects: seizing major opportunities during the “14th Five-Year” industrial development period, the rapid development of commercial vehicle electrification entering a critical stage, the internationalization of commercial vehicles entering a new phase, standards and regulations promoting quality improvement and efficiency in the commercial vehicle industry, the market increasingly focusing on qualitative improvements, and policy guidance for the high-quality development of the commercial vehicle industry.
During the enterprise speech session, the meeting set up speeches from C8 enterprises (Joint Conference of China’s Cargo Vehicle Manufacturers) and key enterprises. Representatives from various companies shared experiences, analyzed problems, and discussed directions based on their own development practices. In the C8 enterprise speech session, representatives such as Liu Licheng, General Manager of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company, Duan Renmin, General Manager of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, Wang Jianyu, Deputy General Manager of FAW Jiefang Automotive Company, Ding Weiyun, Chief Scientist and Chief Engineer of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, Liu Keqiang, Deputy General Manager of Shaanxi Automobile Holding Group, and Qiu Xuejun, General Manager of SAIC Hongyan Automotive Company sequentially spoke, sharing practices and reflections of leading commercial vehicle enterprises in their transformation and development.
