Since the renaming of the “Boao Near Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone” to the “Boao Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone” in March 2025, the energy-saving and carbon reduction effects of the demonstration zone have been significant, and it has fully entered the normalized “zero carbon operation” stage. According to actual measurement data, carbon dioxide emissions related to energy in the Boao Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone in 2025 have decreased from 11,350.1 tons in 2019 to about 14.6 tons, achieving a carbon reduction of 99.9%. The demonstration zone produced 29 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity throughout the year, which not only meets the annual electricity demand of about 19.4 million kilowatt-hours for the demonstration zone but also allows the remaining 9.6 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity to be fed into the grid.
