Abstract generation in progress

NVIDIA NVDA +1.64% ▲ is pushing deeper into the energy sector as it teams up with Emerald AI and some major U.S. energy companies to build advanced AI factories that connect to the grid faster, generate high‑value AI compute, and operate as flexible grid assets. The partners include AES AES +0.18% ▲ , Constellation CEG +2.69% ▲ , Invenergy, NextEra Energy NEE +1.14% ▲ , Nscale Energy & Power, and Vistra Energy VST +3.96% ▲ .

Following the news, NVIDIA stock gained about 3% on Monday. Also, Constellation, NextEra, and Vistra jumped over 4%, 1%, and 6%, respectively. The collaboration was announced at CERAWeek 2026.

New Class of AI Factories That Support the Grid

The new AI factories will use NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin DSX AI Factory reference design, which includes DSX Flex, a software system that lets AI factories interact with the grid in real time.

Interestingly, these AI factories do not act as massive, inflexible power loads. In fact, they can adjust their energy use based on grid conditions and even supply power back when needed.

Also, Emerald AI’s Conductor platform will balance compute workloads with onsite energy resources. This coordination will help operators meet power targets, protect key AI tasks, reduce time spent on bridge power, and avoid building more infrastructure than necessary.

The companies say this approach could unlock up to 100 gigawatts of capacity across the U.S. by using existing grid assets more efficiently and allowing AI factories to adjust their power use during periods of stress.

Here’s Why Energy Companies Are Getting Involved

With AI driving huge electricity demand, utilities and power producers see a chance to add new generation while improving grid reliability. All key energy companies stressed the need for faster interconnections, more flexible demand, and smarter use of existing grid assets.

Many large AI projects use onsite generation because grid connections take too long, but isolating that power wastes capacity and raises costs. The new model solves this by combining fast deployment with full grid participation.

NVIDIA and Emerald AI have already tested power‑flexible AI operations at five commercial data centers worldwide. Also, DSX Flex will be deployed at commercial scale later this year at the NVIDIA AI Factory Research Center in Virginia, one of the first power-flexible AI factories using Vera Rubin infrastructure.

Is NVDA a Strong Buy?

Overall, Wall Street has a Strong Buy consensus rating on NVIDIA stock based on 41 Buy and one Hold recommendations. The average NVDA stock price target of $273.34 indicates 55.8% upside potential.
