A Colombian Air Force transport plane crashed during takeoff, with approximately 80 people reported dead.

Colombian Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez stated that a C-130 “Hercules” transport aircraft of the Air Force crashed on Monday in the southwestern Putumayo province. The actual number of casualties and the cause of the accident have not yet been determined.

According to a Colombian military official told AFP, the accident occurred while the plane was carrying two platoons, about 80 soldiers. Local media reported that there may have been more people on board, with 110 soldiers on the aircraft at the time of the incident, of whom about 80 are confirmed dead.
