Sina Tech News, March 22 — Today, Alibaba Group Chairman Joe Tsai was invited to attend the China Development High-Level Forum. During the special seminar on technological innovation and future industry development, Tsai shared his thoughts on breakthroughs and sustained growth in Chinese artificial intelligence. He stated that the ultimate goal of AI is to popularize its applications and benefit society. “The only direction for Alibaba is continuous innovation.”

Tsai believes that China’s technological development has always been based on independent innovation, guided by the principles of openness, open source, and mutual benefit, committed to sharing development achievements with countries around the world. If the past few decades were China’s “accumulation period” in technology, today has entered a “blossoming” period of rapid growth. From new energy and electric vehicles to high-end manufacturing, robotics, and AI breakthroughs, China is at the best moment to share technological progress and achievements with the world.

In his view, China’s AI breakthroughs depend on our shared belief in open source and mutual benefit. By 2025, China’s open-source models will lead the world in global downloads, allowing developers worldwide to access, fine-tune, and deploy these powerful models for free, significantly lowering the global barrier to using AI and making intelligent technology truly a public good for all humanity.

Tsai emphasized that the ultimate goal of AI is to popularize its applications and benefit society, and Alibaba’s only direction is continuous innovation. “Alibaba’s development is rooted in China, and we are confident in China’s market and future economy. We are actively promoting the implementation of AI applications in personal consumption, enterprise, healthcare, and finance, moving into an era driven by intelligent agents.”

Currently, Alibaba’s full-stack AI layout in cloud computing, chips, large models, and AI applications is transforming into core competitiveness. According to reports, Alibaba’s self-developed GPU chips have achieved mass production, supporting over 400 enterprise clients in industries such as autonomous driving and finance. The recently released flagship model Qwen3.5-Max-Preview outperformed top overseas models like GPT-5.4 in performance.

Tsai stated, “In this era and environment full of uncertainties, Chinese technology has the willingness and capability to provide certainty. I firmly believe that the achievements of Chinese technology will benefit the world.”
