On March 22, the Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Zheng Shanjie, met with Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Management Board of Volkswagen Group, during a visit to the commission. The two sides exchanged views on China’s 14th Five-Year Plan outline, macroeconomic situation, high-level opening-up, and Volkswagen’s development in China. Zheng Shanjie stated that China will actively expand independent opening-up, align with international high-standard trade and economic rules, improve the quality and level of trade and investment cooperation, and promote the liberalization and facilitation of global trade and investment. China will continue to optimize the foreign investment environment, improve the foreign investment service and保障 system, and provide a solid guarantee for the long-term and stable development of foreign-funded enterprises in China. The common interests between China and Germany far outweigh their differences, and cooperation should become the main tone of bilateral economic relations. China is willing to work with companies including Volkswagen Group to seize future development opportunities, engage in innovative cooperation with an open attitude, promote industrial upgrading and transformation, and stimulate new momentum for cooperation. Oliver Blume expressed that Volkswagen Group is full of confidence in China’s economy, firmly optimistic about the Chinese market, and is willing to deepen its presence in China long-term, increasing investment in key areas to achieve共同发展.
