The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated on the 23rd that, in light of recent concerning reports about military activities near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant, Director General Grossi had a phone call with Likhachov, General Director of Russia’s Rosatom, and received an update on the latest situation. Grossi reiterated that, based on the seven essential pillars of nuclear safety and security, no military action should compromise the physical integrity and safety of the nuclear power plant or the safety of its staff. Nuclear plant workers must be able to carry out their vital work under safe conditions. On the 18th, the IAEA issued a statement on social media saying it had received a report from Iran that on the evening of the 17th, a projectile hit the Bushehr nuclear power plant site in southern Iran. There have been no reports of damage to the plant or injuries to personnel so far. (CCTV News)
