Beijing News reported that according to the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the case of Jin Xiangjun, former Deputy Secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Committee and former Governor of Shanxi Province, suspected of accepting bribes, has been concluded by the National Supervisory Commission and transferred to the procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution. The Supreme People’s Procuratorate has lawfully decided to arrest Jin Xiangjun on suspicion of bribery and designated the Xinyang City People’s Procuratorate in Henan Province to review and prosecute. Recently, the Xinyang City People’s Procuratorate has filed a public prosecution with the Intermediate People’s Court of Xinyang City.

During the review and prosecution phase, the procuratorial authorities informed the defendant Jin Xiangjun of his litigation rights according to law, questioned the defendant, and listened to the opinions of his defense attorneys. The prosecution accuses: the defendant Jin Xiangjun, utilizing his positions as Mayor and Party Secretary of Yulin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Party Secretary of Fangchenggang; Vice Mayor and Deputy Party Secretary of Tianjin; Deputy Secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Committee and Governor, among other roles, and the convenience provided by his authority or status, through the conduct of other state officials in their official capacity, sought benefits for relevant units and individuals, illegally accepted property from others, with a particularly large amount, and should be criminally prosecuted for bribery according to law.
