US Stocks Performance | Dow Jumps Over 1,100 Points

U.S. President Trump says a U.S.-Iran deal could be reached within 5 days, prompting the Dow to surge over 1,100 points.

As of 11:10 p.m. Hong Kong time, the Dow was at 46,685 points, up 1,107 points or 2.43%; the S&P 500 index was at 6,646 points, up 139 points or 2.15%; the Nasdaq was at 22,161 points, up 515 points or 2.38%.

Earlier, Trump posted on social media that the U.S. and Iran had conducted very good and productive talks over the past two days, and has instructed a 5-day suspension of all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure.

A senior Israeli official said that later this week, senior officials from Iran and the U.S. will hold talks in Islamabad, Pakistan.

In European markets, the FTSE 100 in the UK closed at 9,997 points, up 79 points or 0.8%; Germany’s DAX rose 565 points or 2.53% to 22,945; France’s CAC 40 increased 156 points or 2.04% to 7,822; Italy’s FTSE MIB was at 43,828 points, up 993 points or 2.32%.

Oil prices declined, with New York crude futures at $89.69 per barrel, down $8.64 or 8.8%; London Brent crude futures at $101.55, down $10.64 or 9.44%.
