Brevis Revolutionizes Media Authentication with Cryptographic Proof of Origin
The proliferation of counterfeit and manipulated content represents one of the biggest challenges of the modern internet. In response to this issue, Brevis announced on March 9 the launch of an innovative system called Brevis Vera, designed to ensure the authenticity of images and videos through zero-knowledge proof (ZK) technology. Unlike conventional solutions, the system not only identifies original content but also tracks all subsequent edits, validating that modifications were made in a compatible and verifiable manner.
How Brevis Vera Combats Fake Content
The key feature of Brevis Vera lies in its ability to establish a cryptographic traceability chain from the moment of capture. When an image or video is captured by a real camera, the system generates a source signature at the hardware level, following the international C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) standard. This signature remains embedded in the file throughout the editing process, creating a transparent and immutable history. Anyone can verify, through robust cryptography, whether the media truly originated from a legitimate source.
Technical Architecture: The Fusion of C2PA and Zero Knowledge
Brevis’s solution combines the standardized C2PA infrastructure with zero-knowledge proofs generated by Brevis Pico zkVM, its specialized zero-knowledge virtual machine. This unique architecture ensures that the cryptographic proof of origin remains intact throughout the content processing flow, enabling validation without exposing sensitive data. Currently, Brevis Vera is operational and supports an open-source editing library, democratizing access to authenticity verification tools and positioning Brevis as a leader in the fight against visual misinformation.
