WeRide, a mainland autonomous driving company, reported in its 2023 annual report that net losses narrowed by 34.2% to 1.7 billion yuan, with revenue growing 89.6% to 685 million yuan. The autonomous taxi business showed significant growth, driving product revenue to 360 million yuan with a 310.3% increase. The driverless fleet has expanded to 2,113 vehicles, with plans to reach 2,600 vehicles by the end of 2026.

Annual results are out. Last year’s net loss narrowed by 34.2% year-on-year to 1.7 billion yuan (RMB), with a basic loss per share of 1.79 yuan; adjusted net loss increased by 55.5% to 1.25 billion yuan. No final dividend will be paid.

During the period, WeRide’s total revenue was 685 million yuan, up 89.6% year-on-year; R&D expenses were 1.4 billion yuan, expected to be 1.1 billion yuan in 2024; operating loss decreased by 15.5% to 1.8 billion yuan. As of now, WeRide’s autonomous driving fleet grew from 1,089 vehicles at the end of 2024 to 2,113 vehicles, with an estimated scale of 2,600 vehicles by the end of 2026.

If only considering autonomous taxi (driverless taxi) business, revenue increased by 209.6% to 148 million yuan, reflecting significant progress in commercial monetization. In Q4 last year, the number of registered Chinese users for the driverless taxi service increased by over 900%.

By segment, WeRide’s product revenue grew by 310.3% to 360 million yuan, mainly due to deployment and scaling of autonomous taxis, minivans, and driverless sanitation vehicles; service revenue was 324 million yuan, an increase of 2.1 times.
