Over 23,000 Square Meters Involved! Two Units in Wanjiang, Dongguan Investigated and Penalized for Illegal Land Occupation and Construction
Recently, on the official website of Credit Dongguan, the Dongguan Natural Resources Bureau announced administrative penalties. Dongguan Wanjian Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. and Dongguan Wanjian Engineering Construction Center were both lawfully investigated for long-term illegal land occupation and construction in Wanjian Street. The penalties include land restitution, confiscation of buildings on the land, and fines, involving a total illegal land area of over 23,000 square meters.
According to investigations, Dongguan Wanjian Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. has been illegally occupying land for construction since 1999 near Guansui Road (Wanjian section) in Wanjian Street, Dongguan. This behavior violates the relevant provisions of the Land Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China. Based on the Land Administration Law, Guangdong Province Land Management Regulations, and other laws and regulations, the Dongguan Natural Resources Bureau issued an administrative penalty: ordering the return of 49.5 square meters of illegally occupied land to the Wanjian Market Share Economic Cooperative in Wanjian District, confiscating the newly built buildings and facilities on that land, and imposing a fine of 495 yuan.
On the same day, Dongguan Wanjian Engineering Construction Center was also investigated. Its illegal land occupation spanned a longer period and involved a larger area. From 1999 to 2023, the center illegally occupied land along Guansui Road (Wanjian section) and Riverside Road in Wanjian Street for construction, also violating relevant provisions of the Land Administration Law. According to multiple laws, regulations, and discretionary standards, the relevant authorities imposed strict penalties: requiring the return of the illegally occupied land in three parts—18,112.0 square meters to the Wanjian Market Share Economic Cooperative, 1,107.9 square meters to the Wanjian Wanhong Share Economic Cooperative, and 3,958.0 square meters to the Wanjian Dongfeng Share Economic Cooperative—totaling 23,177.9 square meters; confiscating the buildings and facilities constructed on this land; and imposing a fine of 668,865 yuan.
It is reported that the penalties for both cases were issued by the Dongguan Natural Resources Bureau. The public notice for Dongguan Wanjian Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. was available until March 18, 2027, and for Dongguan Wanjian Engineering Construction Center until March 16, 2029.
These law enforcement actions against the two entities are important measures by Dongguan to strictly enforce land management laws and regulations, resolutely curb illegal land occupation, and demonstrate the local government’s firm commitment to regulating land use and protecting land resources. They also serve as a warning to all business entities and organizations within the jurisdiction to use land legally, promoting the rational development and lawful utilization of land resources.
