Musk Claims Cursor's New Model Is Based on K2.5 Fine-Tuning

Mars Finance reports that the programming tool Cursor released its self-developed cutting-edge coding model Composer 2 early this morning. It attracted widespread industry attention for outperforming Claude Opus 4.6 in evaluations and emphasizing cost performance. However, some developers quickly discovered that Composer 2 is based on fine-tuned Kimi K2.5. Elon Musk also posted on social media stating, “Yes, this is Kimi K2.5.” This is the second time within a week that Musk has mentioned Kimi.
