China Securities Association Releases Securities Firm Investment Advisor Competency Model, Dividing into Three Tiers: Associate Advisor, Advisor, and Chief Advisor

Gelonghui March 19 | The China Securities Association released the “Key Position Competency and Quality Model Series (Investment Advisor Category),” providing a reference for securities firms to improve their investment advisory teams. The model divides industry investment advisors into three tiers: Assistant Investment Advisor, Investment Advisor, and Chief Investment Advisor. Among them, Assistant Investment Advisors focus on basic service execution and support work; Investment Advisors are expected to independently provide standardized full-process services; and Chief Investment Advisors need to have the ability to develop customized comprehensive solutions and produce strategic research outputs. The differentiated requirements across levels in core responsibilities such as client development, account diagnostics, and investment recommendations create a clear career development path.
