The U.S. Department of Justice is suing Live Nation. What does it mean?
The U.S. Department of Justice has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation Entertainment and its subsidiary Ticketmaster, alleging monopolization and unlawful conduct in the live entertainment industry. The lawsuit, supported by 30 state attorneys-general, claims Live Nation’s practices lead to higher fees for fans, fewer opportunities for artists, and limited choices for venues, calling for the company to be broken up. Live Nation denies the allegations, stating that venues prefer exclusive ticketing contracts and that the government’s evidence of anticompetitive practices is minimal.
