Shenzhen's Foreign Trade Hits Record High in First Two Months Before 2026

On March 20, Shenzhen Customs released the foreign trade data for the first two months of this year. The data shows that Shenzhen’s total import and export volume maintained its position as the leading city in mainland China and reached a record high for the same period in history, totaling 824.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 37.3%. Among them, exports were 494.36 billion yuan, up 35.5%; imports were 329.87 billion yuan, up 40%.

In the first two months of this year, Shenzhen’s exports reached 494.36 billion yuan, an increase of 35.5%. In terms of products, exports of electromechanical products totaled 360.17 billion yuan, up 30.6%, accounting for about 72.9% of Shenzhen’s total exports during the same period. Additionally, exports of traditional electronic information industry products and emerging industry products both maintained growth. In the traditional electronic information sector, exports of computers and their parts, audio-visual equipment and their components were 51.86 billion yuan and 15.88 billion yuan, respectively, with increases of 15% and 33.5%; exports of integrated circuits reached 42.64 billion yuan, up 51.8%. In the emerging industries, exports of lithium batteries, medical devices, and 3D printers were 16.02 billion yuan, 5.23 billion yuan, and 2.55 billion yuan, respectively, with growth rates of 60.4%, 12.9%, and 183.7%.

It is worth noting that independent brands are showing strong momentum in going global. Exports of domestically branded products within Shenzhen reached 150.21 billion yuan, an increase of 46%, ranking first nationwide. Moreover, private enterprises have always been the main force in Shenzhen’s import and export activities. In the first two months of this year, Shenzhen’s private enterprises’ import and export totaled 599.18 billion yuan, up 47.6%, accounting for 72.7% of the total import and export volume during the same period, driving Shenzhen’s foreign trade growth by 32.2 percentage points. Additionally, foreign-invested enterprises’ import and export reached 206.65 billion yuan, an increase of 25.5%, accounting for about 25.1% of the total import and export volume during the same period.

In the first two months of this year, Shenzhen’s imports of electromechanical products totaled 253.42 billion yuan, an increase of 33.4%, accounting for 76.8% of Shenzhen’s total imports during the same period. Among them, imports of integrated circuits were 144.95 billion yuan, up 38.6%; imports of computer parts were 62.65 billion yuan, up 57%.
