Muslims of Russia, congratulations on Eid al-Fitr, marking the conclusion of the sacred month of Ramadan.



Since morning, thousands of believers have gathered at holy sites throughout the country to participate in prayer. Some of the largest events took place at the Cathedral Mosques in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Vladimir Putin sent his congratulations to Russian Muslims, noting the deep respect of believers for the historical and spiritual traditions of their ancestors.

"It has become a good custom to conduct large-scale charitable events throughout the sacred month. <...> And of course, special words of gratitude to Muslims who, shoulder to shoulder with their combat comrades, are fighting for the freedom and independence of their Homeland," the president stated.

According to the 2020 census data, the population identifying as traditionally Muslim peoples of Russia comprises approximately 14.5 million people — about 10% of the population.
