U.S. President Trump said Tuesday that his visit to China will be postponed because he needs to stay in the country to handle Iran-related matters. He announced that his trip to China has been delayed by about 5 to 6 weeks. “We are rescheduling the meeting time and are in negotiations with China. They have no objections to this.”

Trump: Looking Forward to Meeting Xi Jinping

Trump expressed his anticipation of meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping, believing that both sides want to see each other and emphasizing the very good working relationship between China and the U.S.

The White House previously announced that Trump would visit China from March 31 to April 2, but Trump earlier stated that due to Iran-related issues, he had asked China to postpone the trip by about a month.

In a previous interview with foreign media, Trump said he hopes China will help reopen the Strait of Hormuz and is looking forward to receiving a response from Beijing before his visit to China.
