Yuen Long Ching Long Road animal hit by vehicle, wandering on the road. Some lanes were temporarily closed but are now reopened. Traffic is gradually dispersing.
The incident occurred near the entrance of Tai Lam Tunnel on Ching Long Road. Police received a report around 7 a.m. from a driver who said they hit a cow with their private car. Upon arrival, officers found the injured cow and called AFCD for assistance.
Online footage shows a car traveling along the express lane when a cow suddenly emerged from the bushes beside the road. The vehicle appeared to brake suddenly and hit the cow, which then wandered on the road.
Transport Department stated that the lanes on Ching Long Road heading towards Kowloon near Kam Sheung Road MTR Station, which were closed earlier due to the animal, have now reopened. Traffic is gradually dispersing.
The department reminds the public that bus services on Ching Long Road towards Kowloon and Yuen Long Road towards Sheung Shui are still affected. KMB routes 279X and 978, as well as LWB routes A43 and A43P, are rerouted. Citizens are advised to consider using MTR services.
