Poloniex is a cryptocurrency exchange established in 2013 that is currently expanding from the trading sector into decentralized finance and the metaverse. The platform is currently owned by Polo Digital Assets, Ltd. and offers services such as staking and futures, but ceased operations in the United States in 2019. Poloniex has faced regulatory challenges, including reaching a $10 million settlement agreement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and experienced a hot wallet theft incident worth $114 million in November 2023. Poloniex's 24-hour trading volume is approximately $812 million, with 587 cryptocurrencies listed on the platform.
