Tesla and LG Energy Solution have signed a supply agreement to operate a $4.3 billion lithium iron phosphate prismatic battery cell manufacturing facility in Lansing, with production expected to begin in 2027. American-made cells from this plant will power Tesla’s Megapack 3 energy storage systems, aiming to create a robust domestic battery supply chain and reduce reliance on Chinese imports. This agreement was part of deals highlighted by the Indo-Pacific Energy Security Summit.
