On March 17, the three major A-share indices opened higher across the board. After a slight fluctuation at the opening, as of the time of writing, all three indices have turned positive.

In the market, sectors such as components, building materials, electrical equipment, and paper saw the largest gains; while oil, coal, diversified finance, chemicals, and agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery sectors declined.

In Hong Kong stocks, the Hang Seng Index and the Hang Seng Tech Index both strengthened. As of the time of writing, the Hang Seng Tech Index rose over 1%. Alibaba, Tencent Holdings, Xiaomi Group, Pop Mart, and others gained more than 1%.

Copper High-Speed Connector Concept Active

At the market open, the copper high-speed connector concept surged. New Asia Electronics (605277) and Wol Nuclear Materials both hit the daily limit, Shen Yu Shares rose over 10%, and Zhaolong Interconnect, Recarda, and Xinke Materials followed suit.

On the news front, early on March 17 Beijing time, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang delivered a keynote speech at GTC 2026. The company raised its cumulative revenue guidance for 2025–2027 to at least $1 trillion and updated series products such as Vera Rubin platform, Rubin Ultra, and Feymann.

The photovoltaic equipment sector opened strong. As of the time of writing, Huamin Shares rose over 15%, with Maiwei Shares, Guosheng Technology, JA Solar, Shuangliang Eco-Energy, and Autoway following.

The chemical sector strengthened again, with Shandong Haihua hitting the daily limit. Jiangtian Chemical, Sanwei Chemical, Tianyuan Shares, and Hongxing Development also gained.

Steel Sector Moves Up Significantly

The steel sector surged early in the session. Jiugang Hongxing and Anyang Steel both hit the daily limit, with Zhongnan Shares, Linggang Shares, Benxi Steel, Shandong Steel, and Ansteel Shares also rising.

On the news front, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the selection of leading enterprises in key industries such as steel to form joint groups, focusing on advancing industry data set construction. On March 10, the Ministry issued the “Notice on Launching the Industrial Data Foundation Action and Conducting Pilot High-Quality Industry Data Set Construction for AI Empowerment.”

The real estate sector initially surged. Zhongzhou Holdings hit the daily limit, with China Energy Property, Huaxia Happiness, I Love My Home, Beichen Industrial, and Shilianxing following.

Additionally, the CPO concept weakened amid volatility, with Tianfu Communications falling nearly 10%, and many stocks such as Zhongfu Circuits, Changguang Huaxin, Deke Li, Guangku Technology, Changxin Bochuang, and Luobote falling sharply.

Hong Kong Ant Group Concept Stocks Strengthen

Hong Kong stocks related to Ant Group concept stocks surged. Yau Tai Securities Finance once rose over 70%, and as of the time of writing, it increased nearly 58%. Yunfeng Financial, Alibaba, and others also saw significant gains.

On the news front, on the evening of March 16, Yau Tai Securities Financial announced that the tender offer initiated by Ant Group had been approved by relevant authorities, with completion expected by March 30. After the transaction, Ant Group will officially hold controlling stake in Yau Tai Securities Financial.

Yau Tai Securities Financial stated that, as part of the acquisition by Ant Group, all conditions for the deal have been met. The announcement mentioned that the company’s stock was briefly suspended on March 16 and will resume trading from the market open on March 17.
