[2007] Country Garden Commercial Management Reportedly to Take Over Foshan Guicheng Wanda Plaza; Additionally, Company Reportedly Launches Large-Scale Rehiring Plan for Departed Employees
According to domestic media reports, Country Garden (02007) will take over Foshan Guicheng Wanda Plaza next month and rename the project “Guicheng - Phoenix Plaza.” The company plans to invest tens of millions of RMB to launch a comprehensive upgrade, with a grand reopening expected in October.
The renovation project is positioned as a “new generation family gathering attraction,” with a building area of 116,000 square meters. It will optimize business formats around family, parent-child, and pet-friendly scenarios, upgrade hardware facilities, and focus on creating an open outdoor children’s playground and night market economic zone. The layout of each floor will be re-planned, and supporting facilities such as mother-and-baby rooms and convenient services will be improved. Currently, tenant lease negotiations and preliminary construction preparations are underway.
Rehiring of former employees must meet five major conditions
Additionally, it is reported that Country Garden has issued the “Rehiring Management Measures for Resigned Employees,” officially launching what is internally called the “largest veteran recall” rehiring plan. The document states that applications are open to all resigned employees of the group and its subsidiaries, aiming to quickly replenish the team to meet the company’s “recovery phase” new project development needs.
This rehiring policy is based on four principles: “mutual confirmation, bottom-line management, prioritizing excellence, and reassigning positions and salaries.” It lists five conditions: “seniority + resignation duration + performance + no disciplinary violations + no conflicts of interest.” Normal resigners must have more than two years of service and have been out of the company for at least one year; passive optimizers must have more than three years of seniority. Performance records must not include C grades, and employees on blacklists are ineligible. After rehiring, seniority resets to zero, and salary and job level generally will not exceed pre-resignation standards.
Data shows that at the end of 2018, Country Garden had approximately 131,400 employees. By mid-2025, this number will sharply decrease to 17,900, a reduction of 113,500 employees over seven years, an 86% decline.
