During the sessions, Gao Jifan, a National People’s Congress delegate, Standing Committee member of the China Democratic League, director of the National Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Science and Technology, and chairman of Trina Solar, stated in an interview that Trina is actively planning for “Future Energy.”

“Future energy is still in the laboratory stage or small-scale applications. But in the future, with technological advancements and scale, it will become the main energy source,” Gao Jifan explained. He gave an example of constructing a green, zero-carbon hydrogen energy system, including space photovoltaics—using new photovoltaic technology in space to generate power and enable space computing and manufacturing. Gao pointed out that new energy and future energy will form the complete energy reserves needed for a future carbon-neutral system.

Gao Jifan said that the 18,000-word government work report dedicates about 1,300 words to renewable energy topics, and clearly states that during the 14th Five-Year Plan, a national energy development plan will be formulated to establish a green, low-carbon new energy system. These initiatives will outline a clear blueprint for the development of future energy and new energy industries.

“We are already laying out plans for future energy, such as our ecological partner Trina Yuan Hydrogen, which is engaged in technological innovation and industrial development in hydrogen energy. Additionally, we are focusing on the development of space computing and manufacturing, actively promoting the research and industrialization of perovskite tandem batteries, which will be the key technology for future space photovoltaics,” Gao Jifan added.
