Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a new rule that allows users to obtain guarantees of transaction irreversibility within 12 seconds. This mechanism is based on the assumption that most validators are honest and network latency is low. Although its security is slightly lower than economic finality, it remains reliable for many application scenarios.

ChainCatcher News: Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted about a new fast confirmation rule mechanism for Ethereum. This mechanism allows users to have a non-revert guarantee for Ethereum transactions after just one Slot (12 seconds). Vitalik pointed out that the security of this rule is based on two premises: first, that the majority of validators are honest nodes; second, that network latency is below approximately 3 seconds. Although its security is slightly lower than economic finality, it already provides strong reliability for many application scenarios.
