Foreign media reports indicate that OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, has signed a new contract with Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), to sell AI products to U.S. government employees for both classified and unclassified work. The contract helps expand OpenAI’s business scope within the federal government, allowing it to provide services to multiple government agencies through AWS’s existing cloud infrastructure.

The Pentagon previously abandoned using Anthropic, citing it as a “supply chain risk,” and quickly switched to OpenAI. This contract follows the Pentagon’s award to OpenAI at the end of last month.

AWS is already a major cloud service provider for many U.S. government agencies. It is reported that AWS has agreed to sell OpenAI products to government clients, and under the agreement, OpenAI will share revenue from government business with AWS.
