The former Hong Kong internet celebrity known as “Fire Forest” (real name Yuan Binghui, Yuen Ping Fai), who was dubbed the “Young Stock God” by netizens in his early years, reportedly sued his separated wife in the UK, accusing her of installing a secret CCTV system at home that recorded the location of his safe password, and stole 2,323 Bitcoins, worth approximately £180 million.

According to reports from UK media Daily Mail and The Times, 44-year-old “Fire Forest” stored this cryptocurrency in a digital ledger, with the access key stored in a digital “cold wallet.” The wallet was not connected to the internet and protected by a six-digit PIN. However, anyone with the “seed phrase” could reconstruct the wallet on other devices and bypass security protocols.

The reports state that during a hearing at the High Court, “Fire Forest” claimed that his wife installed a secret CCTV system at home during their divorce discussions. He only learned of her attempt to steal his Bitcoin in July 2023 after his daughter expressed suspicion. He then installed audio recording devices at home and stated that he had solid evidence proving that his wife “obtained the seed phrase and transferred the Bitcoin.”

“Fire Forest” was reportedly arrested in August 2023 after confronting his wife, admitting to charges of actual bodily harm and common assault. He later reported to the police that his wife had stolen his Bitcoin, leading to her arrest by UK police. The police found 10 cold wallets, five sets of seed phrases, and several watches during a search, but indicated that no further action would be taken without new evidence.

In his early years, “Fire Forest” was involved in controversial incidents in Hong Kong. In 2018, some Hong Kong citizens sought help from political parties, claiming that they had invested in virtual claw machine mobile apps with cash or Bitcoin based on “Fire Forest’s” recommendation, resulting in losses.
