Experts Discuss China-US Economic and Trade Relations: Expand Consensus, Stabilize Expectations, but China's Bottom Line Cannot Be Crossed
The current US-China economic and trade relations are receiving a lot of attention. Zhao Zhongxiu, President of the University of International Business and Economics, pointed out in an exclusive interview with China Daily’s Zhijian China program that the business community is eager for China and the US to effectively manage risks in key areas such as export controls, technological exchanges, and shipping services, and to enhance stability and transparency to achieve clearer and more stable expectations. In third-party markets, there is also great potential for US-China cooperation. He also noted that the past “economic and trade struggles” have made everyone aware of China’s bottom line and red lines. Challenging these bottom lines and red lines will be met with firm resistance from China. However, on the basis of safeguarding these bottom lines, there is broad consensus between the private sector and business communities to expand cooperation. By effectively managing risks and increasing predictability, stabilizing US-China economic and trade cooperation will inject positive energy into global economic growth.
