Basic research investment surpasses 7% for the first time, laying a solid foundation of national strategic assets to build a strong country

At this year’s National Two Sessions, during the “Minister’s Channel,” Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun presented a set of key data: by 2025, China’s investment in basic research will approach 280 billion yuan, accounting for over 7% of total social R&D investment for the first time, reaching a record high. The Government Work Report also explicitly states the need to strengthen original innovation and tackle key core technologies, continuing to increase the proportion of basic research investment.
