Two French Teenagers Arrested for Hostage-Taking with Explosives, Police Deploy Helicopter in Pursuit of Crypto Community Member

Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 16 — According to DL News, police in the Île-de-France region of France have arrested two teenagers (aged 15 and 17) and a 35-year-old man. The three are suspected of carrying out two armed hijacking incidents targeting cryptocurrency holders on March 10 in the Île-de-France region.

Reportedly, the first incident occurred in the southern suburbs of Paris, in Essonne department. The suspects, wearing masks and carrying small explosive devices, attempted to break into a cryptocurrency holder’s residence but were unsuccessful. About 30 minutes later, another incident took place in Seine-et-Marne department, where the suspects successfully broke into a female cryptocurrency holder’s home, kidnapping her family and stealing jewelry. It is not yet disclosed whether they also stole cryptocurrency assets.

Police tracked the suspects’ vehicle, deploying approximately 100 armed SWAT officers and two police helicopters in a pursuit that lasted about six hours. They intercepted the vehicle and found stolen jewelry inside. The prosecutor has filed charges against the three suspects, including extortion, organized crime, armed robbery, property damage, and kidnapping. The 17-year-old and the 35-year-old are currently in custody awaiting trial, while the 15-year-old is under judicial supervision. The prosecutor has appealed this decision.
