U.S.-China trade teams concluded their negotiations in Paris, France. On Monday, Li Chenggang, Vice Minister of Commerce and Chief Negotiator for International Trade, stated in Paris that both sides engaged in in-depth, honest, and constructive discussions and reached consensus on some issues.

He added that the U.S. introduced new tariff adjustments and further considerations, while China expressed concerns about uncertainties. Both sides reviewed the implementation of last year’s consensus and gave overall positive feedback.

Li Chenggang pointed out that the parties had in-depth discussions on their trade concerns. China is worried that the results of the U.S. Section 301 investigation related to China may interfere with trade achievements and hopes the U.S. will keep its promises and work with China. Li Chenggang did not mention President Trump’s planned visit to China.

On Sunday, Trump told the Financial Times that he might delay his originally scheduled trip to Beijing from March 31 to April 2. He also called on China and other countries to help maintain the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
