Paris Nuclear Energy Summit Calls for Developing Safe and Affordable Nuclear Power

People’s Financial News, March 11 — The second Nuclear Energy Summit, jointly organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency and France, was held in Paris, France, on the 10th. Over 30 countries, including France, China, Canada, and Japan, issued a joint summit statement titled “Making Safe and Affordable Nuclear Energy Beneficial to All.” The statement said these countries reaffirm their firm commitment to positioning nuclear energy as a strategic asset to meet the growing global electricity demand. Nuclear energy helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the energy and industrial sectors, ensures energy security and diversification, and promotes long-term sustainable development as well as a clean, just, and equitable energy transition. The statement pledged to continue promoting technological innovation, further improving the performance, safety, and economic efficiency of nuclear power plants, especially by restarting long-shutdown units; enhance the resilience and security of the global nuclear industry and its supply chains; actively promote participation of enterprises and stakeholders at the local level, as well as capacity-building initiatives; strengthen international cooperation, and share experiences and knowledge in related fields.
