4.17 million cases investigated and handled; authorities crackdown on issues such as substandard meat products and edible vegetable oils.
According to reports today, by 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation will focus on prominent issues strongly reflected by the public, such as adulteration and false labeling of meat products and edible vegetable oils, substandard products, false advertising, and false labeling. The agency will deploy efforts across various regions to carry out special campaigns to combat counterfeit and inferior meat products and to investigate and rectify major problems with edible vegetable oils. By the end of 2025, market regulation departments nationwide will have investigated a total of 41,700 cases, imposed fines totaling 329 million yuan, penalized 1,708 individuals, and lawfully transferred 1,702 suspected criminal cases to public security authorities. During the special campaign, market regulation departments across the country inspected 4.55 million meat and edible vegetable oil production and business entities, conducted 375,600 sampling tests, rectified 461,200 safety hazards, removed 11,318 illegal posts from platforms, closed 4,297 non-compliant shops and accounts, and effectively regulated the behavior of meat product and edible vegetable oil producers and operators.
