Odaily Planet Daily reports that according to the Moldovan National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), a complex transaction scheme involving $107 million has been uncovered, aimed at manipulating the 2025 parliamentary elections through cryptocurrency. The investigation shows that the scheme transfers funds (mainly USDT) via centralized platforms in Russia and Kyrgyzstan to Moldovan intermediaries, who then exchange the funds for cash to bribe voters, fund protests, and promote certain candidates. Blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs further indicated that Kyrgyzstan-based exchange TokenSpot may have acted as a front for the sanctioned Russian platform Garantex. Data shows that in 2025 alone, $43 million was transferred through this scheme. Currently, the involved wallets and accounts have been subject to international sanctions. (Decrypt)
