Russian Foreign Intelligence Service claims that the UK and France are preparing to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine, according to the Foreign Ministry's statement
On February 25th, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference. During the session, a reporter asked whether China has any comment on the statement made yesterday by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, claiming that the UK and France are preparing to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine, as they believe Ukraine should be provided with atomic bombs or at least “dirty bombs” to create more favorable conditions for ending the conflict. Mao Ning responded, “I am not aware of the relevant information.” She stated that, as a principle, China has always advocated that nuclear weapons should not be used and nuclear war should not be fought, and that international nuclear non-proliferation obligations should be earnestly observed. Currently, dialogue regarding the Ukraine crisis has been initiated, and we hope all parties will seize the opportunity to reach a comprehensive, lasting, and binding peace agreement. We call on relevant parties to remain calm and restrained, avoiding any actions that could lead to misunderstandings, misjudgments, or even escalation of the situation. (Global Times)
